A Tri-Band CIRCULAR MICROSTRIP PATCH ANTENNA WITH ANNULAR SLOTS FOR 5G COMMUNICATINS

This paper proposes a multi -band circular patch antenna with annular slots and feeding line structure. This patch antenna is a tri-band resonating at 40.05GHz, 49.69GHz and 63.37GHz, targeting future 5G wireless de-vices and millimeter-wave applications. We intend to improve the antenna bandwidth and gain by the use of low profile circular patch with two annular slots. The proposed patch is implemented on FR-4 epoxy dielectric sub-strate with relative permittivity, εr=4.4. A parametric analysis is performed in order to achieve higher gain and wider bandwidth. The radius of the optimized circular patch is 1.8 mm and the overall antenna size is 8× 7.6× 0.508 mm3. The achievable bandwidth of the three bands are 6.64%, 20.4% and 11.72% of the tri-bands center frequencies respectively. Moreover, a maximum simulated gain of 5.21 dBi, 5.23 dBi and 7.67 dBi are achieved at resonant frequencies 40.05/49.69/63.37GHz respectively. The proposed srucure has a small size, a good gain and a wider bandwidth.
